NEWS - June 20, 2007 Tama Community Foundation awarded $49,353.79 amongst 19 different non-profit agencies and organizations committed to serve the greater good in Tama County. The foundation received thirty-two grant applications seeking $191.414 in funding.


Thank you to the community groups who put forth the time and effort to make Tama County a better place today and tomorrow with their contributions in community service.

01 - American Legion's Post 127: was awarded a grant for the All Veterans Memorial in Gladbrook.

The Clutier Betterment Committee: was awarded a grant for restoration of the "Clutier House."
03 -
Tama County Economic Development: was awarded a grant for marketing and communications equipment.
04 -
The South Tama Recreation Trail Project: was awarded a grant for its safety improvements.
05 -
The City of Elberon: was awarded a grant for kitchen improvements in its community building.
06 -
Tama County Tourism: was awarded a full color grant for a map to market County attractions.
07 - The Iowa Juvenile Home Foundation: was awarded a grant for its music program.
08 -
Chelsea Community Center: was awarded a grant for community center roof repair.
09 -
Gladbrook Museum: was awarded a grant for its veterans display case.
10 - The Kids' Corner Daycare: was awarded a grant for playground equipment.
11 - Twentieth Century Women's Club: was awarded a grant to replace the carpet in the Dysart Community Building.
12 -
The Girl Scouts: was awarded a grant for Zink the Zebra program.
13 - Tama County Fair Association: was awarded a grant for a new sound system at the fairgrounds.
14 -
Barn Quilts of Tama County: was awarded a grant to construct 4 blocks for its Barn Quilts project.

The Tama County Council on Aging: was awarded a for the delivery of services to senior citizens.
16 -
City of Chelsea: was awarded a grant to purchase a fax/copy machine.
17 -
The Toledo Public Library: was awarded a grant to purchase materials for the visually impaired.
18 -
Garwin Fire Department: was awarded a grant for the purchase of a used tanker truck.
19 -
Wolfcreek Whirlwinds 4-H Club: was awarded a grant for a community calendar.

Mission
The goals of Tama County Community Foundation are to act as a county wide endowment, to be a resource for a broad range of community needs, and to assist donors in creating a lasting legacy through a variety of giving options in Tama County. Grants are awarded in the areas of: arts and culture, community affairs and development, education, environmental education and protection, health, historic preservation, and human services. Tama County Community Foundation is an affiliate of the Community Foundation of Waterloo/Cedar Falls and Northeast Iowa.
